IMPORTANT NEWS!!!

This week’s open mike will be my last one as host.  Beginning September 6, your host will be the amazingly talented and all-around great guy, Seth Connelly.  I will keep this page up during September, and will add a link to Seth’s Website as soon as it is available.

The SIT'N BULL OPEN MIKE (Wednesday) is a unique scene.  It's not just an evening of player after player, it's a welcoming community in a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment.  We encourage you to come in for some food and drink, of course, and we get the show rolling at 8:00 PM.  Depending on how many folks sign up, you may perform two to four songs.  Buffie opens with a brief set to get the evening flowing, and there's always a featured performer who plays a half-hour set starting between 9:15-9:30PM.  Because we believe that open mikes are, first and foremost, for open mikers, we like to give features to musicians who participate in the open mike on a regular basis.  Admission is $3, and we pass the hat for the featured performer.  Sign-up begins at 7:00.

This week, August 30:

Featuring Paul Beck!!

From Paul’s website:   Paul Beck is a folk singer and songwriter who has played for his own amusement and with a variety of groups over many years.  He plays guitar, mandolin, old-time banjo, and cittern.  His music ranges from traditional ballads and tunes to bluegrass, contemporary folk music, and his own songs (which may be either contemporary or faux traditional).  Pete Seeger once said of him "Who?" and Utah Philips once declined to get into a pun contest with him, presumably knowing better.”

I think Paul’s music combines the best of the above genres, and I am really happy to have him “play me out.”  Please come and join Paul and me as I end my tenure at the Sit’n Bull open mike!
